Clarification on NIL with Ron Nocetti – California Interscholastic Federation

Ron Nocetti explains that California does not have a scholastic NIU rule, but they have a rule on the book for many years that student-athletes can have individual endorsement deals if they do not affiliate this deal with their school in any way. This evolved from students in the Screen Actors Guild having opportunities for doing TV commercials and endorsements. Ron believes the biggest concern moving forward is that a student-athlete or their family is going to find themselves in a situation where they are jeopardizing their amateur status and may lose their eligibility.
