Mike Bianchi: Welcome to the lawless dystopia of ‘NIL’ in Florida high schools

Excuse me for scoffing out loud, but it’s absolutely ridiculous that the Florida High School Athletics Association actually wants us to believe that it can police and enforce the new Name, Image and Likeness legislation it passed earlier this week.

“I absolutely am confident in [the FHSAA’s] abilities to police the policies and bylaws,” FHSAA board of directors member Trevor Berryhill, the athletics director at Master’s Academy in Oviedo, told the Orlando Sentinel shortly after the board voted unanimously Tuesday to allow NIL compensation at the high school level.
