Rhode Island is now the 20th state to approve Name, Image, and Likeness at the high school level!

Earlier this week the Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) clarified their position on amateurism to allow high school student-athletes to participate in Name, Image, and Likeness opportunities, such as endorsements, making Rhode Island the 20th state to allow NIL at the high school level.

Similar to other states who have allowed NIL at the high school level, the RIIL clarified that student-athletes can do endorsement deals using their own Name, Image, and Likeness as long as they do not reference their school, or school logos. School facilities or the RIIL marks in any way. They are also not allowed to participate in any pay-for-play endorsement deals or sign a professional playing contract in their sport.
